What is the difference between a blood test and a saliva Testosterone test?

In short, a blood test can provide a total hormone measurement but not an active hormone measurement. Whereas a saliva test is the opposite. It provides us with an active hormone level, but cannot provide a total hormone level. Both can be useful, but they are not the same.

Saliva testosterone testing will measure the available component of the hormone which is relevant measurement of testosterone. Serum testosterone relies on Albumin, Testosterone and SHBG to calculate free testosterone.

Is this test measuring Thyroxine or Testosterone?

It is ‘Testosterone’ being tested using this test kit, and not ‘Thyroxine’. Thyroid hormones (TSH, FT4, FT3, RT3) cannot be tested from saliva. They are compounds of too great a Molecular Weight to pass across the membrane into the saliva.
